Anna-Claire Bevan is the Assistant Director of INSI – the International News Safety Institute. In the past she worked as a freelance journalist in Central America, writing about social, political and development issues for publications in Europe, North America and Central America, and as a producer for Reuters TV London.
Her travels in Latin America, and frustrations at the lack of media coverage that this area of the world receives, originally gave her the idea to start this blog. The opinions expressed here are entirely her own.

Great articles Anna! My name is Clara and I am the Operational Director of the Institute for Trafficked, Exploited, and Missing Persons. This is an organization that works to prevent, interdict, rescue, recover, and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking in Guatemala and in the United States.
In Guatemala, we provide victims with safe houses when necessary, medical and psychological aid, social and legal assistance, as well as education, because education is key for vulnerable children to get out of poverty, know their rights and become less of a target for human traffickers.
As January 11 is the National Anti Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the U.S, I thought you could be interested in writing an article about what we do!

Great Job with your blog. Our Medical Team will care for 2000 patients in Tecpan Guatemala Feb11-16 providing surgery for cleft lip, crossed eyes, club feet and burns in children plus general surgical, dental, and medical care. Our team of 130 members, including 29 physicians, come mostly from Michigan but have members from all over the USA and from the UK as well.
